SSAB Oxelösund has together with Ferro Umformtechnik developed the first industrial process for producing abrasion resistant steel pipes. Previously it has only been possible by the induction quenching of pipes with lower hardness or by the expensive manual bending of steel plates. Efficient production and high performance opens up for many new application areas.

It is now possible to produce anti-wear pipes made of HARDOX wear plates. Wear resistant steel pipes are the optimal product for transportation of all semi-liquid fluids. The manufacturing industry uses pipes for slurry with solid particles and fluids. In the construction industry, we find transportation of wet concrete and dredging. Mines use abrasion resistant pipes for coal slurry, ore separation and oil sand. Additionally, there are many other application fields for sand, grain and polymer transportation. At the moment, SSAB Oxelösund is also testing the pipes for a heavy truck application
