Sample work experience places  offered at SSAB:

 

Administrative Services
You will be assisting with post distribution, photocopying, brochure making, and all kinds of office work and some printing jobs.

 

Main Stores
Here you help locate and provide stores items,  reporting the transactions on a computer terminal.

 

Main Laboratory
Here your job will consist mainly of taking samples, screening, grinding and weighing. You will also be able to follow what they do in different departments and carry out simple, analyses, calculations and reporting.

 

Merox
is a subsidiary of SSAB working with the reuse of our waste products. You can join us testing Merox products (cement, concrete, fire prevention materials, etc.) You can follow the work going on in production and try out various office jobs.

 

Operational Research
Here you will help with testing sinter and coke, durability, reduction and humidity tests. There is also an element about computerised reporting.

 

Testing Building and Steel Inspection
Preparation of samples and mechanical testing of different sorts of steel along with reporting using computers are the jobs you can work with here.

 

Vehicle Repair Workshop
You can work with repairing various kinds of vehicles - trucks, forklift trucks, locomotives etc.

 

Tool Workshop
Your work here will consist of servicing and repairing compressed air tools.

 

Lining Workshop
You can join in the work here with lining and retiling the torpedo cars. You will also be able to work with brick inventory and in the brick stores and help retiling the ladles and casting forms.

Here you will be working with inspection, service and  and repair jobs of various kinds.
