I have been on an advanced vocational course in process and maintenance technology. To apply for the qualified trade course I had to first complete senior high school education.
My job is to empty the pig iron from the torpedo car into a transfer vessel. I take samples and take the temperature of the pig iron every time the torpedo cars are emptied. the pig iron is taken to the LD furnace in the transfer vessel. I think it is a great job and we get along very well as a group.
As well as my ordinary duties I am on the equal opportunities committee. Our goal is to get more women to work at SSAB Oxelösund
I was a qualified building engineer in Iran. In Sweden I have taken the advanced vocational course in process and maintenance technology. I am also a qualified interpreter in Swedish-Persian.
My job is mostly research, experimentation and follow ups on liquid steel. I compile statistics on my own work and the group's work. In my group there are only four people. So we know each other very well and get on together. I like my job at SSAB Oxelösund and I have interesting things to do learning new things every day.
I did social studies at senior high school but I took a process and maintenance technology advanced vocational course. My job is monitoring the production and operating an overhead crane. My work is quite varied changing between 3 to 4 different duties. Working shifts suits me fine and I have great workmates. Before starting at SSAB Oxelösund I used to have some prejudices about steel plant work but the place where I work is clean and my job is not as physically hard as I thought.
I did a three year steel plate and welding course. My job is quite flexible since I can vary from working in the forge to the cutting machine. I also have a forklift truck licence so I do some forklift driving. Besides the welding I am also a safety officer. That means working with workplace environment problems like for example teaching new employees about safety and rules for working in an environment like this.
I often have trainees because I am a welding instructor. This is both fun and meaningful work. I see my duty as an instructor as an important role in letting people know about my trade.
